An autoimmune disorder is characterized by the immune system abnormally and chronically attacking specific tissues and nerves in the body. Immune proteins known as cytokines are part of the body’s normal response to infections, toxins and injuries. Dramatic, temporary increases in various cytokines are a normal response of our immune systems.
However, in autoimmune disorders, the increased cytokine response becomes permanent. Over time, the attacked tissue breaks down and function is reduced.
Rather than go into specific autoimmune diseases, let’s explore some common patterns among all autoimmune disorders.
First off, the aggressive autoimmune attack is not usually constant. There are generally periods of relative remission followed by periods of increased immune attack. The important thing to understand is that there are various triggers that can turn on the attacks.
These include:
- Gluten Sensitivity
It is estimated that over 90% of all people with AI disorders are reactive to glutens. This number is much greater than is generally accepted due to inadequate laboratory testing methods and other factors. We use the sophisticated lab testing developed by renowned immunologist Aristo Vojdani, Ph.D. and Cyrex Labs. - Hormonal Imbalances
- Blood Sugar Imbalances
- Stress
- Toxicity
- Chronic Infections
It is essential to discover and handle/lessen any and all of these issues to modulate and slow down these improper immune responses.
Appropriate lab tests are needed. Dietary changes need to be made. Specific supplementation is needed to reduce inflammation, fight infections and reduce toxicity levels. Lifestyle changes are usually needed to balance stress factors.
In addition, acupuncture (See Acupuncture) and chinese herbs (See Chinese Herbal Medicine) can be powerfully beneficial in moderating the immune response and easing symptoms.
Cardiovascular
Abnormal Heart Rhythms/Arrhythmias
Angina
Anemia
Arteriosclerosis
Atherosclerosis
Coronary Artery Disease
High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
Low Blood Pressure
Cardiovascular Disease is the leading cause of death in the US for both men and women. The progression leading to heart disease develops over many years. Early diagnosis and treatment are quite literally “lifesavers”.
We utilize numerous diagnostic procedures to determine the health status of your heart and cardiovascular system. These include modern, advanced cardiovascular laboratory tests measuring multiple heart risk factors including vulnerability to plaque buildup and also highly accurate palpatory and pulse taking methods developed over millennia by the Chinese and Japanese. Coronary blood flow as well as heart rhythm issues and vessel wall pathologies can be determined by these methods.
Effective treatment includes individualized Chinese Herbal prescriptions, acupuncture, supplementation and diet. Many cardiovascular conditions can effectively be treated without (or alongside of) western medications.

Musculoskeletal pain is endemic in our lives. We have all experienced pain, whether from minor or major injuries, unexplained aches and pains or chronic joint conditions like osteoarthritis, disc or joint degeneration or bone spurs.
Our approach to musculoskeletal related issues is quite unique and diversified. Our work is not about “adjusting” a vertebra or joint and hoping it stays in alignment. A complete analysis of the postural influences affecting any musculoskeletal issue is the first essential step.
The process is then directed at unwinding the postural, stress patterns one by one. In this manner normal range of motion is returned and pain relieved. (See Article on Koren Specific Technique)
However, that is not the entire story. Often there are functional disorders that underlie musculoskeletal issues. Neck pain, for instance, has numerous potential causes.
These include:
- Autonomic Nervous System Stress
- Immune issues
- Lymphatic Congestion
- Blood Sugar Issues and Diet
- Food Sensitivities
- Liver Dysfunction
- Hormonal Dysfunction
When functional causes are indicated, we turn to a unique and highly effective system of acupuncture developed in Japan. (See article: Acupuncture). The results are usually immediate and quite amazing.
We also utilize a powerful Hot Laser. (See Article: Laser) The K-Laser, developed in Italy, is extremely effective with acute injuries as well as chronic pain issues.
Chinese Herbs (See article: Chinese Herbal Medicine) are also utilized to reduce pain, release spasms and relax muscles, promote healing of bone spurs, discs and arthritic joints.
Basically, we do whatever it takes to get you well and feeling great.
