My methods of treating structural issues are quite unique and multifaceted. They are gleaned from over 35 years of clinical practice and training in numerous chiropractic, acupuncture, nutrition and exercise-based techniques.
My work focuses on gently correcting distortions of the spine and structure. Rather than simply making an “adjustment” to correct a vertebra or joint that is out of place, our primary focus is on correcting postural distortions. Our adjustments not only correct abnormal vertebra or joint position but also unwind postural distortion patterns so that corrections “hold” and are maintained long term.
Correcting Subluxations
We are correcting a serious form of nerve stress caused by distortions in your spine and structural system. This stress is known as a subluxation and can cause physical, mental and emotional malfunction. They are associated with loss of energy, pain, weakness and disease of all types.
Subluxations may be caused by physical, chemical or emotional stress or by trauma. Our purpose is to remove this stress from your body/mind complex so that you may become physically and mentally healthier.
Gentle yet powerful
These methods are very gentle, yet very powerful. Patients usually notice dramatic changes from the first visit. Your body will likely hold its corrections for a much longer time allowing deeper physical and emotional stresses to be addressed in future visits.
As your body unwinds, these deeper layers of stress leave the body. Your body has many layers of stress imbedded within. At each session, we address what your body is revealing at that time. Older injuries, distortions and symptoms (both physical and emotional) may surface. This release of old injuries is part of the healing process and is a cleansing response known as “re-tracing”.
On occasion, patients have reported cleansing symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, mucus, fever, rash, etc. Others may experience deep or unusual dreams. Some may experience symptoms of long forgotten injuries. These symptoms are temporary, but may last several days. Not everyone experiences this “retracing”, but if you do, it’s important that you understand what is going on with you. If in doubt, please don’t hesitate to call or email us.
What parts of your body are treated?
These methods permit me to quickly, easily and gently correct your body for subluxations wherever they may arise. This includes your cranial bones, TMJ, spine, hips, sternum, ribs, shoulders, knees and anything else that needs correcting. We also address organ imbalances, scars and adhesions and much more.
How do we evaluate?
The first step is basically highly detailed observation of your body’s structure and postural relationships. We look at various landmarks such as whether the position of your head in relation to your shoulders and the rest of your body are in normal balance and position. We observe rotational, forward and back and side to side movement of your head/neck complex.
We proceed through the rest of your body observing positionality at rest and with movement. In a step-by-step fashion, your entire structural system is scanned for imbalances, observed in abnormal positional relationships along with “pulling patterns” or tightening as a response to the movement.
How do we treat?
The abnormally responding areas are gently and precisely corrected, usually using an adjusting instrument. This electro-mechanical device, called an Arthrostim, gently delivers 12-14 thrusts a second to precisely correct any vertebra, cranial bone, joint, organ or other body part that is “out of position”. There is no twisting, turning or “cracking” of the joints.
In different postures
A major advantage of this work is that it permits me to analyze and correct you in different postures: standing, sitting, and lying down or in the position of injury or dysfunction. This is very important because sometimes a subluxation can only be observed when you are in a certain posture. For example, if a person was in a car accident, their subluxations may only be revealed and completely corrected while they are seated.
Another all too common example of a positional stress injury, is caused by the oft repeated forward movement of the head and slumping of our shoulders and backs as we send text messages from our phones or when sitting at our computers. In these cases, placing the patient in the precise position reveals specific subluxations that are then corrected while in this position.
How should I feel after a treatment?
Everyone is different, but certain general responses have been noticed. Most people report a feeling of ease, relaxation and well-being, as their structural and nerve stress release. Often people report an improved ability to breathe more deeply or a feeling of emotional release. Eyesight may improve as blood flow to the brain increases. Some people may feel soreness, as if they’ve had a good workout. Others may have cleansing or re-tracing symptoms (as described earlier). Please observe your dreams and physical changes over the next few days and let us know how you are responding.
Acupuncture, Herbs, Laser, Nutrition and More
To support structural release, we may also include other modalities in your treatment. These include Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Hot Laser, Exercise and the use of nutritional supplements to support the muscular and ligamentous structure. These methods are detailed in various articles on our site.
Each patient responds differently. Our system is free-flowing. Based on observations of your response to treatment, we may add different modalities and support to obtain the best results.
Will I get better right away?
We all want complete healing, and you and I will work together toward that goal. Many people do experience dramatic improvements after one or two visits. But if you have had a health problem for many years, it may take time for your body to heal. There may be many layers of imbalance within the body. Each of us will take whatever time is necessary for a complete healing.
The beauty of this work is that we are responding to the intelligence in each person’s body, and correcting imbalances as they present themselves. In this way, the body can unwind and heal as it sees fit.
